celebrating MAY for all sorts of reasons!

The month of May has been busy for us so we have to catch everyone up. Here's hoping to a concise update! (We have a brown eyed babe)
Jackson and I celebrated our birthdays on May 7. Daddy sent us on a scavenger hunt for a few presents, which was so much fun. Daddy also had fun with Jackson on Sat morning folding laundry and allowing for Mama to sleep in!
I love this self portrait of Daddy and Jackson.
Getting Jackson ready for football!
For Mother's Day Daddy treated the whole family to a trip to Huntington Field to watch the minor league baseball team. Jackson had so much fun that he wore himself out ... but woke up just in time to meet the Rooster.
Jackson started crawling shortly after 8 months in which he became interested in opening and shutting doors. This obsession lasted for a week or so but it was adorable. I tried endlessly to get a video of this but once Jackson caught on all he wanted to do was crawl towards the camera.

Look at the focus of both the boys as they watch Baby Einstein. We've only really let Jackson watch this DVD a few times but he absolutely loves the puppets. He waits and waits ... and then explodes with excitement once they appear on the screen.
Jackson and Mama visited Daddy at work and brought a delicious lunch to share.
Tickling toes at the state park.
Another trick Jackson started to master was pulling himself up. One night he just popped up again and again in his crib. Daddy and Mama were so worried that he would hit his head so we kept going back into his room to put him down ... well, this quickly turned into a game. Its hard not to giggle when Jackson has a huge grin on his face but this soon got old. We decided that this was Jackson's way of letting us know that he was ready to fall asleep on his own. It took approximately 35 mins and he was out like a light. However, in the morning Jackson had a bruise on his forehead. I, of course, felt awful ... can't say the same for Daddy. I came across this old video of Daddy finding the humor in Jackson's first crib causality and actually found it funny as well!

Daddy finally gets to COSI.
During the whole month of May Jackson was waking up around 5 am and then usually would fall back asleep. I can't believe I'm doing this but here is a photo of one of those mornings. Of course, we had to reward Jackson with pancakes (cue the sarcasm).
After many attempts to get Jackson to sleep later in the morning Tony and I realized that he needed to eliminate his late afternoon nap. Once we transitioned from 3 naps to 2 naps a day Jackson immediately started sleeping-in in the morning. What a great way to end this post and the month of May!
