Thing 1 and Thing 2

So as I grew older (i.e. in High School and College and beyond) I haven't really gotten into Halloween. Not that I didn't like handing out candy but the whole dressing up thing just never really stuck. But the moment you have kids that changes. I'm still not into dressing up myself but maybe that has more to do with finding time to get my costume organized and complete. I have no time. But costumes for the kids is fun. This will mark the 3rd year of creating home-made costumes. Contrary to popular belief home-made costumes don't save money (esp when considering time and transportation to purchase materials). We make our costumes because its fun, creative, great looking and challenges us. We hope to keep it up for many years to come. The first year was of course Jackson as a bear (here), the second was him as a skunk (here - make sure you scroll down to #3 on this post) and the third (this year) was Jackson and Will as Thing 1 and Thing 2. For the second year in a row Nana has helped out with the costumes. The blue wigs are great ... some what of a Rastafarian remix of Thing 1 and Thing 2. Thanks Nana!

This year Jackson et al met up with a few of his school friends and their families for Trick-or-Treating. Just like last year, Jackson had a great time. He was very confident in approaching houses and saying "Trick-or-Treat". He kept saying "Next house!". He didn't even ask to eat his candy until the end of the night. Will just soaked it all in while lounging in his nice stroller seat ... which by the way was pushed by the one and only Grandpa Frank! That's right, Grandpa was in the area for business over Halloween. He loved seeing the boys and catching up with Daddy. And he loved pushing our new double stroller!

Aren't these kids so adorable! Amelia as a bee, Sophia as Cyndi Lauper, Sonia as a flower (or something, wasn't really sure), Alex as a lion, Jackson as Thing 1, Norman as a fire chief, Norman's brother Henry as a construction guy, and little Hadrian as Yoda.  Not picture - Sonia's sister Rhea, Amelia's brother Max, and Will.
Jackson and the girls. This is when he started wanting candy. See the suckers.

What a great picture! All smiles.

As you might have noticed we had a lot of fun this fall. Hitting up multiple fall festivals, going to the pumpkin patch, starting school, meeting new friends, and painting (and then later carving) pumpkins.

All last week Jackson kept referring to himself as Thing 1. I said "Jackson, your my little man" while walking to the playground. Jackson promptly corrected me "No Mom, I'm not your little man. I'm Thing 1!". We love our Thing 1 and Thing 2 with all of our hearts.
